Privacy Policy

Introduction
UpCluck (the "App") is an alarm clock application for iPhone, developed and operated by WITS ("we," "us," or "our"). We value your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains what information the App collects, how we use it, and who we share it with.
UpCluck does not ask you to create an account. We do not ask for your name, email address, phone number, or physical address.
Information We Collect
1. Alarms, Settings, and Mission Progress
Your alarms, alarm sounds, mission choices, settings, onboarding answers, and wake-up history are stored locally on your device. We do not upload this data to our servers.
2. Camera Data for Exercise Missions
Exercise missions (such as push-ups, squats, and lunges) use your device's camera to count repetitions. Body-pose detection runs entirely on your device. Camera frames from exercise missions are not recorded, stored, or sent to us or to anyone else.
3. Photos and Drawings for Verified Missions
Some missions ask you to take a photo (for example, of your made bed or of an object you were asked to find) or to make a drawing. To check that the mission is complete:
- The photo or drawing, together with the mission type and the expected subject, is sent over an encrypted connection to our server (Google Cloud Functions for Firebase).
- Our server forwards it to an artificial intelligence (AI) provider, OpenAI or Anthropic, which returns a result that says whether the mission is complete.
- We instruct our AI providers not to store these requests where their service permits that option. We do not save the photo or drawing on our servers, and we do not use it to train AI models.
- To prevent abuse and to limit costs, our server keeps a daily count of verification requests for each anonymous user identifier. This count does not include the image.
Do not include people, faces, documents, or other sensitive content in mission photos.
4. Microphone and Speech Data
The Devotional mission listens while you read a passage aloud and marks each word that you complete. Speech recognition runs on your device. Audio and transcripts are not sent to us.
5. Motion and Fitness Data
The Steps mission uses Apple's Motion & Fitness data (step count and movement activity) to check your progress. This data is processed on your device and is not sent to us.
6. Screen Time and App Blocking
If you turn on app blocking, the App uses Apple's Screen Time framework. Apple gives the App only private tokens for the apps and categories that you choose. We cannot see which apps you choose or how you use them, and this data does not leave your device.
7. Anonymous Identifiers
When the App first needs our server, Firebase Authentication creates an anonymous user identifier. This identifier is not linked to your name or contact details. Firebase App Check uses Apple's App Attest service to confirm that requests come from a genuine copy of the App.
8. Usage and Diagnostic Data
We automatically collect:
- Device information: device model, operating system version, app version, language, and region.
- Usage information: features used, screens viewed, and interactions within the App.
- Diagnostic data: crash reports, error logs, and performance data.
9. Purchase Information
All purchases are processed by Apple through the App Store. We do not receive or store your payment details. We receive limited purchase information, such as transaction identifiers, product purchased, and subscription status, to give you access to the App.
How We Use Your Information
We use the information we collect to:
- Provide the App: ring your alarms, run your missions, and verify photo and drawing missions.
- Manage purchases: confirm and restore your access to the App.
- Improve the App: find and fix crashes and bugs, improve reliability, and decide which features to build.
- Protect the App: prevent fraud, abuse, and excessive use of our services.
- Provide support: answer your questions and requests.
Third-Party Services
We use the following service providers. They process data for us and are bound by their own privacy policies:

Tracking and Advertising
The App does not show ads. We do not use Apple's advertising identifier (IDFA), and we do not track you across apps or websites owned by other companies.
Data Sharing and Disclosure
We do not sell, trade, or rent your personal information.
We share information only:
- With the service providers listed above, so that they can provide their services to us.
- When required by law or legal process, or to protect our rights, property, or safety, or the rights, property, or safety of others.
- In connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets. We will notify you of any such change.
- With your consent.
Data Retention
- Data stored on your device remains there until you delete it or delete the App.
- Mission photos and drawings are not kept by us after verification is complete.
- Daily verification counts are kept only as long as needed to enforce usage limits.
- Analytics and crash data are kept according to the retention settings of Firebase, and only as long as needed for the purposes described in this Policy.
- Purchase records are kept as long as needed to provide your access and to meet legal and accounting obligations.
Data Security
We use reasonable measures to protect your information, including encryption in transit (HTTPS/TLS), anonymous identifiers, and limited access to data. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.
Children's Privacy
UpCluck has no age restriction and can be used by people of all ages. The App does not ask for a name, email address, or other contact details. If you are a parent or guardian and believe that your child has provided personal information to us, contact us at the email address below. We will delete that information.
Your Rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to:
- Access the personal information we hold about you.
- Correct inaccurate personal information.
- Delete your personal information.
- Object to or restrict certain processing.
- Withdraw your consent at any time.
Because the App uses anonymous identifiers, we may need information from you (for example, the approximate date and time of a request) to find your data. To exercise your rights, contact us at the email address below.
California residents: You have the right to know what personal information we collect, to request its deletion, and to not be discriminated against for using these rights. We do not sell or share personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising.
European Economic Area and United Kingdom residents: We process your data to provide the App (performance of a contract) and for our legitimate interests in keeping the App reliable, secure, and improving it. You may lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.
International Data Transfers
Our service providers may process your information in the United States and in other countries. These countries may have different data protection laws. We rely on our providers' safeguards, such as Standard Contractual Clauses, to protect your information.
Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the "Effective Date" at the top of this page, and we may also notify you in the App. Your continued use of the App after a change means that you accept the updated Policy.
